The simulator allows the user to learn the techniques and procedure by repetition without the risk of consequences due to a mistake, and memorize the procedure through behavioral mimicry. These acquired skills can then be applied in a real-life situation.

With this simulator, learners are faced with the different steps to follow to change the dressing of a PICC line; the steps were created based on current and approved standards of practice.
The trainer may organize a post-training debrief to discuss the procedure (possible differences observed between learned theory and practical application) which will further supplement the training.
